Troubleshooting common issues with live judging

If you are using LiveHeats for live judging and having issues, check out the below troubleshooting guide.

Issue #1: Not all judge scores are appearing on the Head judge page

Problem: For example, three judges are entering scores but only one score is appearing on the Head judge page.

Solution: Check that each judge's device is logged in with a unique judge login (e.g. judge1, judge2, judge3 etc). If they are not, log out of the account and log back in with a unique account (e.g. judge2 and judge3). Each unique login will only send one score to the server, so if all devices are logged in with only one login, only one score will be submitted. See here for how to access your judge logins.

Issue #2: The average score is not calculating

Problem: Judge scores are appearing on the Head judge page, but the average is showing as a "-"

Solution: In addition to the solution under Issue #1, go to the Event settings > Judging and make sure that  Minimum number of judges is not set to a number higher than the judging panel. Note, if you are using double banks / panels, and there are 3 judges on each (6 total), the minimum number of judges would be  3.

Issue #3: Red boxes are appearing on each judge's score

Problem: When a judge types in a score, it pulses with a red border and the score is not appearing on the Head judge page.

Solution 1: Check that the judge's device has a strong internet connection, by reloading the judge's page. If it does not load, check the wifi or 4G settings to ensure there is a stable connection.

Solution 2: You might be using an out of date web browser on the judge device. Go to the device's app store and update the browser so it is using the latest version of Chrome or  Safari.

Issue #4: Consuming too much data on a hotspot at the event

Problem: The judge's and director's devices are using a hotspot, and it is running out of data quickly. A full day of judging with three judges and a director should only use around 200mb of data (not much at all!).

Solution: Check all the devices connected to the hotspot and make sure that  Auto-update of applications is deactivated.
