Setting division restrictions for your event registration
You can set up entry restrictions at a division level for your event to ensure athletes only register in divisions they are eligible for, i.e. a 17yr old athlete cannot enter a U16 division.
You can set these at the division level for each event which will be based on custom field data:
- Drop-down restrictions – limit which options can be selected.
- Date of birth restrictions – ensure athletes only enter divisions they are eligible for.
Only athlete or registration category custom fields can be selected as criteria for division eligibility. The data that informs whether athletes are eligible for a division will come from their athlete profile and the data they fill in in the registration form.
You can then configure the restriction in the new division restrictions tab, where you can also now set the maximum amount of divisions an athlete can enter.
Each column represents a type of division restriction which you can then configure.
Age can be configured y entering a minimum or maximum age or both by a certain date, whereas the drop down restrictions can be configured by selecting the options that are eligible for that division.
Once you're done, hit the save button at the bottom of the page.
Creating many events with divisions:
When creating many events with the same division restrictions, we recommend setting up one event with the correct division restrictions and then using our copy from existing event feature when going to create the next event.
When registering, athletes will only be able to select divisions they are eligible, but be shown why they cannot enter the other divisions:
Here are two videos to help explain in more detail how to set up restrictions and what the process looks like from an entry process.
