How to set an modifier, like a DNS, DNF, Interference, Double Whammy, or Disqualification - non-surfing formats

When you need to modify an athlete's ride or run, or mark it as something aside from a numerical score (e.g. 9.0), you use Modifiers. In LiveHeats, Modifiers are specific to each sport.

We support modifiers for a range of sports. This article describes how to add and or remove a modifier from a ride, run, score or result and how each of the supported modifiers work for either Judged sports or  Racing sports

Modifiers explained

Interference - halves the athlete's second-best ride score, INT tag will be applied

Priority interference - zeroes out the athlete's second-best ride score, INT tag will be applied

Double whammy - points are doubled

Team 5-point penalty - applies a 5-point penalty to the team

DNI (Did Not Improve) - Athlete did not improve on their previous score/run/result

DNS (Did Not Start) - Athlete did not start in the heat/run/race. This removes the athlete from the result/rank

DNF (Did Not Finish) - Athlete did not finish the heat/run/race

DSQ (Disqualified) - Athlete was disqualified from the heat/run/race, and removes them from the final result/rank

Scores and results marked with DNI, DNS, DNF & DSQ will not be included in the competitor's overall score line, place or final result.

Common questions

How do we enter a Paddling interference (surfing)?

If the offending athlete did not stand up and didn't receive a score, then you should add the interference to the athlete's next available ride, as illustrated with the "+" icon. Select the interference that alligns with your rule book - if they lose their full second counting score "Priority interference" or if they lose half of their second counting score "Interference":
