Head judge rank and release feature

Rank and release: Manage & approve scores with confidence

What is it?

The rank and release view is a new feature on the Head Judge page that gives Head Judges complete control over round-based and heat-based competition rankings - before any scores are published. This is also available in tabulator mode (enter scores through head judge page). Note, rank and release is currently not available for surfing tag team and time- & place-based rankings.

It's designed to help you:

  • Review the round leaderboard in real time including any unapproved scores
  • Clearly identify ties between athletes
  • See the cut line (ex.: Top 8 )
  • Approve and publish scores only when you're ready

The approve scores functionality is only available when the 'Head judge must approve scores' setting is activated in event settings.

Why use it?

In fast-moving competitions, it’s easy to lose track of scores across multiple tabs or tools. Rank and Release removes the noise - giving you a single screen to manage your round, make decisions, and publish results with confidence.

How it works:
  1. Activate the 'Head judge must approve scores' setting
  2. Open the Head Judge page for any round.
  3. Click the ‘View ranking’ button
  4. You’ll see:
  • A full list of athletes and their pre-approved scores
  • Any ties clearly flagged
  • A cut line based on the configured progression
  1. Review the ranking.
  2. Once you’re happy, click the unapproved score & approve/edit/delete:
  • Scores & approved ranking become visible to the public
  • The leaderboard updates in real time
